Schizophrenia can be managed as long as you know enough about the disorder and what steps you need to take. As one of the very first steps to cure any disorder, you will need to know more about the schizophrenia symptoms.
Delusions
A delusion is an idea that a person has and though it is very clear to the person, it is not true. Delusions are very common with people who have schizophrenia and occurs to about 90% of the people who have the disorder. The delusions are often very crazy and bizarre ideas that will often have the person scared or shocked. There are different types of delusions but one of the more common is a delusion of persecution. This is where the person feels like someone is out to get him or her and can often be very bizarre plots that obviously cannot be true. Another form of delusion is called delusion of reference as this is where a person that has schizophrenia believes that a certain commercial on TV or a billboard is being targeted towards just him or her. There are certainly other forms of delusion but these two are the most common.
Hallucinations
A hallucination is when a person starts to hear sounds and sensations that the person thinks is real but only exists in that person’s mind. Hallucinations can occur in all five sense but is most common with hearing sounds and noises. Visual hallucinations can also occur but studies have shown that hearing hallucinations is the most common. These hallucinations al so get worse when the person is alone and can often be voices heard from people they know.
Disorganized and negative behavior
This means that a person with Schizophrenia will have a hard time with sticking to a goal as they tend to forget to take care of themself, forget about work and will stop interacting with other people. There is an overall decline in daily functioning and often can be very moody and unpredictable. A person with schizophrenia will also experience inappropriate emotional responses and can often act impulsively when angry. There are negative symptoms that are not found in healthy individuals like a lack of expression. An inexpressive face and a flat voice can be a symptom of Schizophrenia and a lack of emotional expression as well.
After you understand the symptoms, you must then take the second step and that is to seek help as soon . The third step is to stick with the treatment that the patient is given and with the correct treatment and support group like family members, friends, and doctors, a person with schizophrenia can definitely still live a fulfilling life.
